In the meantime we tried restarting the Echelle ICC but that didn't fix the issue. Gordon said the terminal server was not talking to the motor controller. Cary came over and I left messages for Shane and Tracey. No Echelle IOL for tonight. I updated the wiki for a "quick and dirty" finding bad pointing model stars faster. Finally were able to open at 04:30. I planned on doing the NA2 ring focus test as the telescope was warm from being closed all night. Seeing was a bit variable when I focused the NA2 guider. After several attempts the seeing was just too variable to get anything consistent, even without rotating the guider. I then tried focusing ARCTIC, to get a crude idea where focus might be, but again the focus points were all over the place with the seeing so unstable. Twilight was starting so I shut things down for the night at 05:20. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 04:51 guider 151( 1161) 13 58 15.2 16.1 18.9 16.0 15.3 R 2.17 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 72 50 18 76 (ENE) 2608 mstly cldy none 17:00 75 48 10 83 (E) 2071 mstly cldy none 18:00 72 43 16 53 (NE) 542 cloudy none 19:00 66 48 6 351 (N) 2216 cloudy none 20:00 69 44 11 325 (NW) 1329 cloudy none 21:00 66 46 9 344 (NNW) 2473 cloudy none 22:00 68 43 8 357 (N) 1085 cloudy none 23:00 62 49 20 81 (E) 1489 cloudy none 00:00 58 33 26 74 (ENE) 2498 mstly cldy none 01:00 57 32 23 68 (ENE) 1267 mstly cldy none 02:00 59 32 26 73 (ENE) 840 cloudy none 03:00 57 31 24 74 (ENE) 2735 mstly cldy none 04:00 62 31 17 70 (ENE) 1008 ptly cldy none 05:00 58 31 17 60 (ENE) 2320 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
