I believe we may have had a lightning strike on site which resulted in the following problems tonight. 2026-07-12 00:18:34 CmdDone: client-1736 8 fits start gcam 2026-07-12 00:18:34 APO.Jack-ObsA.gcam 7 gcamera f text="libapogee:GenOneLinuxUSB.cpp(476):UsbRequestIn failed with error -1. RequestCode = c2 : Index = 65 : Value = 0:1\"" restarting nubs fixed this issue. I then was having issues with the telescope motors themselves timing out. The Az and Al positions were also slightly off from where I parked this morning. Az 103.7 and Alt 79.7, the should have been 104.0 and 80.0. 2026-07-12 01:28:33 .tcc.0 0 tcc w text='INIT failed for axis: az' 2026-07-12 01:28:33 .tcc.0 0 tcc w text='INIT failed for axis: alt' 2026-07-12 01:28:44 APO.Jack-ObsA 53 telmech f errtxt="failed to call M3 controller" Cary needed to come over to power cycle the drive controllers. Restarting the Hub and TCC seemed to fix M3 but we needed to re-home the tertiary to fix an issue with that. All sky cam, and it's network, also needed to be reset by Cary. The 3.5m outside optidew are reading wrong on the web page. Shane notified. Everything appeared to be recovered by 21:50 just as another storm was approaching which keep us closed even longer. Although no rain we had clouds for the remainder of the night or when we had a clearing, radar returns very close by and I was not comfortable with the risk of opening. We opened at 03:56. No telescope issues. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WY02 Kosmos T/H 20:22 21:52 Lightning strike today caused issues with Alt, Az, and M3.
