I decided to take 1000 bias frames to see if it cleared during those images. Results were it did not, but it did change. I then let the instrument set for about an hour and took another set of biases (100) and the first image looked normal. See images in /arctic subdir. We were closed at the start of the night due to clouds and radar returns nearby. I finially felt is safe enough to open just before 23:00. We were on the sky until the end of the 1st program. I focused the telescope for the second, but they needed to take truss cals at the start, since APOLLO would be the last program tonight. While taking the cals the clouds rolled in and radar returns again appeared nearby and approaching. I closed the telescope at that point. We got some rain a little after 03:00. We never re-opened for the night and gave up at 04:30 when it looked pretty hopeless for APOLLO. We had light rain when I went to bed at 05:00. No telescope issues tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:10 ecamera 386( 350) 210 80 17.3 18.6 18.9 18.5 17.4 clear 0.89 01:21 kosmos 475( 1365) 185 63 17.4 16.8 17.4 16.6 16.9 -- 1.25 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 70 32 2 95 (E) 2078 mstly cldy none 17:00 73 36 13 193 (SSW) 2095 mstly cldy none 18:00 70 35 11 234 (SW) 2185 mstly cldy none 19:00 69 36 9 190 (S) 2147 mstly cldy none 20:00 68 32 9 170 (S) 2212 mstly cldy none 21:00 67 32 11 137 (SE) 1976 mstly cldy none 22:00 65 34 10 111 (ESE) 1836 ptly cldy none 23:00 64 37 18 123 (ESE) 2001 mstly clr none 00:00 63 36 23 127 (SE) 1992 clear none 01:00 63 35 22 128 (SE) 1591 mstly clr none 02:00 63 35 21 129 (SE) 1806 cloudy none 03:00 61 38 5 269 (W) 2063 cloudy lt rain 04:00 61 40 10 119 (ESE) 1911 cloudy lt rain Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
