A simple axis stop and power button cycle fixed the issue. At least my observer had just started their 1200s exposure so they could just pause the exposure and re-center the star. Dust started climbing around 23:00 and even though we were over the limit I let my observer finish their exposure, then we closed. Dust climbed to around 11K and stayed there for the rest of the 1st half. The earlier power flicker did kill my mirror cover remote control, I reset them when I went up to close and closed the covers manually as well. I re-opened after the dust subsided at 02:50. No telescope issues tonight and the Echelle ThAr lamps worked fine. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:02 ecamera 691( 722) 149 52 18.7 19.6 19.2 19.1 18.2 clear 1.12 22:20 ecamera 544( 472) 229 80 16.3 17.8 18.1 17.4 16.4 ND1 1.00 03:00 ecamera 458 ND1 1.11 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 73 39 15 231 (SW) 1401 ptly cldy none 17:00 71 37 12 245 (WSW) 1056 ptly cldy none 18:00 71 36 15 285 (WNW) 1243 ptly cldy none 19:00 67 35 14 258 (WSW) 1170 mstly clr none 20:00 67 35 16 257 (WSW) 1006 mstly clr none 21:00 65 35 11 260 (W) 1054 ptly cldy none 22:00 63 41 15 205 (SSW) 901 mstly clr none 23:00 61 46 13 188 (S) 5425 mstly clr dust 00:00 60 46 11 184 (S) 12156 ptly cldy dust 01:00 59 45 12 186 (S) 11710 mstly cldy dust 02:00 59 45 15 188 (S) 5794 ptly cldy none 03:00 57 47 13 182 (S) 2194 mstly clr none 04:00 55 48 17 201 (SSW) 1341 clear none 05:00 54 33 17 200 (SSW) 1190 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
