The mirror covers worked well tonight. No other instrument or telescope issues. We were closed for dust until the final 20 minutes of the UW02 time with KOSMOS. A quick focus and a truncated single exposure was made before switching to ARCTIC. The first ARCTIC session started as soon as the instrument swap was made, but the dust climbed back and we closed at 23:15. We stayed closed throughout the remainder of UW07 and all of UW01 sessions. The dust finally dropped at the start of the AP01 time allowing us to get on-sky for the rest of the short period before dawn. The UW07 time was used by the JH02 team, with the PI's intention for UW07 to take the 02July JH02 slot. Both programs (PIs Chandler and Ingebretsen) are awarded time in both Q2 and Q3 (it appears that UW07 in Q2 becomes UW08 in Q3; JH02 stays the same in Q2 and Q3). I kept the PROG IDs and PIs unchanged from the awarded and assigned time tonight in this log, but indicated the actual observers. If the swap becomes official, the institution/Program will likely need to be corrected. I forgot to log the KOSMOS focus until I was focusing ARCTIC. By then, the auto-populated parameters were incorrect so I deleted that line in the log. Roughly, the KOSMOS focus was at 22:05 MDT, 350 um focus, Az=-20, El=38, seeing 1.15" without any filter. I do not know the other parameters in the focus log table. note: I swapped the original UW07 program in the log for the JH02 to match adjusted schedule. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:51 arctic 348( 1755) 326 34 20.3 21.0 22.1 20.5 20.4 CUVR 1.40 04:41 APOLLO 200( 2154) 76 48 18.6 18.4 19.7 18.4 18.2 530 1.20 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 76 29 16 263 (W) 2107 clear none 17:00 76 28 15 286 (WNW) 4932 clear dust 18:00 79 30 8 243 (WSW) 4910 clear dust 19:00 75 26 13 232 (SW) 6466 clear dust 20:00 72 22 21 264 (W) 9961 clear dust 21:00 70 20 13 270 (W) 18872 clear dust 22:00 69 18 15 239 (WSW) 3393 clear none 23:00 68 18 8 260 (W) 3744 clear none 00:00 68 18 7 263 (W) 4691 clear dust 01:00 64 14 4 354 (N) 4597 clear dust 02:00 68 17 10 28 (NNE) 4195 clear dust 03:00 67 16 12 358 (N) 4403 clear dust 04:00 65 14 13 17 (NNE) 5053 clear dust 05:00 65 15 16 26 (NNE) 1883 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
