The OU01 class was able to see a few cool things in the eyepiece before the sky got too bright! Obs2/weather computer restarted during the day (probably due to a windows update). KOSMOS stuck on writing during checkout--had to restart icc twice to get it back. Power fluxuations about 01:19, got an "Amplifier too hot" error in the status window for alt. slewing in alt + ms.dump cleared error and I saw nothing else, so I think that was probably just the power flash. We did not switch over to the generator, and there's no inclement weather (wind/lightning) that would explain this. However, when I tried to focus KOSMOS at this point the exposure got stuck writing again. Rstarting the icc did not work, I got a "TorrentDev(torrentDev) failed to connect: Torrent Error: ERROR: ppxGetAVP: Failed." error and had to restart the torrent server. Test bias (zero) exposure did not show up as complete in mBorg but test exposures showed up in forTron/kosmos, and while I did have to restart the icc again twice after restarting the torrent server, everything came back up. Unclear if this is related to readout problems at the start of the night and/or further exacerbated by the power flickers. We were not taking KOSMOS exposures at the time of the power flickers. I was able to take multiple images to focus KOSMOS, and UW02 took a long exposure. That exposure also got stuck on writing. I was able to rescue it, but there was not enough time to recover things again left before the next program. I did recover kosmos again by doing a couple of icc restarts, and took a few sets of biases without trouble. At the end of the night I took one more test bias to see if it was still working, but it failed again. Separate email sent with more information. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UW02 KOSMOS I/S 01:22 02:02 Image stuck writing, reset torrent server UW02 KOSMOS I/S 02:43 03:00 Image stuck writing out again ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:18 arctic 200( 1248) -33 77 12.8 13.9 13.8 13.3 13.1 CUVR 0.79 21:45 arctic 329( 1310) -52 58 12.4 12.3 12.9 12.1 12.2 CUVR 0.84 02:13 kosmos 300( 1137) -15 58 13.1 11.4 12.1 11.2 12.1 -- 0.95 03:18 arctic 318( 1286) -21 61 12.7 11.9 12.5 12.0 12.4 BG40_A1 0.79 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 59 10 14 318 (NW) 2516 clear none 17:00 60 11 17 277 (W) 2547 clear none 18:00 61 13 11 282 (WNW) 2458 clear none 19:00 59 10 7 261 (W) 2403 clear none 20:00 55 9 5 261 (W) 2538 clear none 21:00 55 9 9 259 (W) 2577 clear none 22:00 55 10 8 209 (SSW) 2555 clear none 23:00 54 9 10 195 (SSW) 2665 clear none 00:00 54 9 9 225 (SW) 2781 clear none 01:00 53 8 13 215 (SW) 2783 clear none 02:00 54 5 9 234 (SW) 2276 clear none 03:00 54 5 5 256 (WSW) 2338 clear none 04:00 52 5 4 348 (NNW) 2288 clear none 05:00 53 7 10 358 (N) 2427 clear none 06:00 54 7 10 22 (NNE) 2746 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
