However, things cleared and the JH01 class was able to get on sky. They had some good practice with arctic and kosmos, which the day staff were able to get up and running in time for observations! The winds started kicking up during B half. We never reached over a limit, but as it was coming from the west, where the moon was located, AP01 just couldn't get a signal due to all the windshake. They gave up around 4am, which was when the clouds started getting rather thick. BY01 tried to get some data but we were barely able to see a 2nd magnitude star. BY01 called it quits at 6am when the clouds just kept getting worse with rain on the way. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:27 arctic 307( 991) -26 52 5.4 5.9 6.4 5.6 5.5 sdss-g 1.38 23:00 arctic 396( 993) 77 41 4.1 3.9 4.6 3.9 4.0 sdss-g 1.59 00:52 kosmos 346( 793) -41 73 3.7 3.2 3.8 3.3 3.4 -- 0.95 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 49 1 17 259 (W) 1704 clear none 17:00 49 -1 22 254 (WSW) 2055 clear none 18:00 46 2 25 260 (W) 2694 clear none 19:00 43 0 19 254 (WSW) 3772 clear dust 20:00 42 1 22 255 (WSW) 2688 clear none 21:00 41 1 18 265 (W) 4148 mstly clr none 22:00 41 1 21 261 (W) 2718 mstly clr none 23:00 39 1 21 263 (W) 1891 ptly cldy none 00:00 39 0 20 260 (W) 1462 mstly clr none 01:00 39 1 23 267 (W) 1221 clear none 02:00 37 0 23 265 (W) 1202 clear none 03:00 36 0 14 263 (W) 1328 mstly clr none 04:00 35 3 17 264 (W) 1162 mstly cldy none 05:00 35 4 17 252 (WSW) 1100 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
