I didn't catch this right away and Carey came in to discuss the ThAr lamp issue. I ran the Echelle IOL script while he was in the room to observe the behaviour of the cal mirror, it leaves the mirror in the lamps position after the script finishes. I ran it like I did the other morning with just taking a comp first (comp.0001), then taking the Red, Blue, and Comp (comp.0004). The cal mirror did not move, expected behaviour, as it was already in the lamps position. When we looked at the first comp image we found it bad (and that was when I noticed the checkout scipt halting for the gcam failure). The second comp also was bad. I took a slitview image (see image 0000) with the ThAr lamp turned back on, it looked as expected with the ThAr lamp on. I then did another comp only image (comp.0005), without turning the ThAr off, with the IOL script. kcam also failed, restarted nubs to fix this as well. The first exposure after the restart of the nubs gave me an error about no file or directory. I restarted the nubs again and manually took and image and it was fine. Checkout scrip then ran fine (for kcam). While the checkout script was running the echelle checkout, I took a slitview mage (0002) and that looked as expected with the ThAr lamp on. I did not check counts in the slitview image, but I don't know what the counts normally are. The checkout image was still bad though. Dataq was frozen, I restarted it. No telescope issues tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:03 APOLLO 450( 1654) 56 63 4.6 6.9 6.7 6.5 4.9 -- 1.40 18:26 kosmos 675( 976) 282 76 4.2 4.4 5.0 4.3 4.2 -- 1.10 00:24 khigh 675( 947) 298 38 3.8 3.2 3.8 3.4 3.6 -- 2.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 43 31 15 249 (WSW) 1185 clear none 17:00 40 29 10 262 (W) 1463 clear none 18:00 40 32 14 255 (WSW) clear none 19:00 39 31 13 249 (WSW) clear none 20:00 38 30 18 264 (W) clear none 21:00 39 21 20 266 (W) 679 clear none 22:00 39 23 16 272 (W) 772 clear none 23:00 38 20 22 271 (W) 504 clear none 00:00 39 19 25 268 (W) 578 clear none 01:00 38 19 21 272 (W) 561 clear none 02:00 37 18 16 279 (W) 500 clear none 03:00 37 17 14 282 (WNW) 383 clear none 04:00 37 14 7 267 (W) 356 clear none 05:00 37 14 7 258 (WSW) 308 clear none 06:00 37 12 9 306 (NW) 190 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
