We nearly hit the cold closure limit of -15 C (made it down to -14.2). There was high humidity for much of the night, but we never hit closure limit. Then the wind shifted and it dried out a bit, but still super cold! Seeing was TERRIBLE during A half!!! It really improved during B half when the humidity started letting up. We had an unfortunate issue with Tspec for the second half. While it was fine at check out, it was reading all zeros for B half. Looking back at the data, it was reading zero for BY04 first 1.5 hr of data. I needed to power cycle the spectrograph and then it came back just fine with no further issues. I wondered if the cold had done something but there was also a strange power flicker during A half that could have been an issue. However, the mirror covered closed up fine at the end of the night... It only took me about 10 min to fix tspec but I listed the full about of data time lost in the failure log. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BY04 Tspec I/U 00:10 01:55 Tspec reading all 0's ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:55 ecamera 241( -676) 74 40 -7.8 -4.9 -5.3 -5.9 -6.7 -- 2.07 19:15 ecamera 343( -828) 74 56 -12.8 -10.1 -9.1 -10.7 -11.8 -- 3.22 00:13 tcamera 346( 305) -128 46 -12.4 -12.8 -12.0 -12.8 -12.6 Ks 1.05 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 25 6 8 248 (WSW) 1774 mstly clr none 17:00 21 3 10 259 (W) 1414 mstly clr none 18:00 18 0 2 112 (ESE) 733 mstly clr none 19:00 9 2 13 49 (NE) mstly clr none 20:00 12 2 4 26 (NNE) mstly clr none 21:00 6 1 11 65 (ENE) clear none 22:00 12 1 9 12 (NNE) clear none 23:00 10 1 10 15 (NNE) clear none 00:00 10 -1 8 1 (N) 508 clear none 01:00 10 -5 7 352 (N) 423 clear none 02:00 8 -3 8 358 (N) 585 clear none 03:00 7 -6 10 3 (N) 649 clear none 04:00 7 -12 26 23 (NNE) 334 clear none 05:00 8 -21 13 8 (N) 157 clear none 06:00 11 -25 10 69 (ENE) 111 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
