It was clear the whole night but the dust stayed at 4K, so I opened at 19:30 and then immediately closed again. Turns out the particles are probably tied to the INSANE AMOUNT OF SMOKE!!! There are huge fires in Canada and it's all being funneled down the middle of the country and reached us today. So, we were not able to get on sky, but we ran through the Shack Hartmann test and I've started making new documentation on the new wiki. It's a slow process but, boy, it's making more sense now! No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 57 53 6 270 (W) 1338 ptly cldy none 17:00 59 51 2 231 (SW) 1767 ptly cldy none 18:00 59 51 3 180 (S) 2267 mstly clr none 19:00 60 49 2 201 (SSW) 2364 mstly clr none 20:00 58 45 9 89 (E) 3209 clear dust 21:00 56 43 16 76 (ENE) 3361 clear dust 22:00 56 42 20 76 (ENE) 3873 clear dust 23:00 57 40 21 75 (ENE) 3953 clear dust 00:00 57 38 15 70 (ENE) 3999 clear dust 01:00 56 38 12 51 (NE) 4032 clear dust 02:00 58 37 14 68 (ENE) 4024 clear dust 03:00 58 37 16 57 (ENE) 3976 clear dust 04:00 57 36 2 346 (NNW) 4082 clear dust 05:00 57 34 6 18 (NNE) 4369 clear dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
