This and clouds caused us to delay opening until around 22:45 Almost as soon as I opened clouds appeared which hampered focusing the telescope. I finially was able to get the telescope focused around 23:15 and handed it over to the observer. From the looks of the satellite, it didn't look like we were going to be open for long but the clouds seemed to evaporate as they approached us and we were able to finish the 1st half of the night without closing. The second half I switched instruments and we just focused and my observer took a cal when I decided the weather looked threatening, with radar returns approaching and some clouds. The rain never appeared and we re-opened at 02:10. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:31 kosmos 246( 1363) -93 29 15.5 15.8 17.5 15.7 15.4 -- 2.76 01:17 ecamera 364( 341) -156 58 14.5 14.3 15.2 14.2 14.2 ND1 1.12 04:56 APOLLO 400( 2154) 93 42 14.6 14.1 14.6 14.1 14.2 -- 1.20 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 65 53 19 231 (SW) 53653 cloudy lt rain 17:00 59 54 18 184 (S) 2577 cloudy lt rain 18:00 60 48 13 151 (SSE) 1222 cloudy lt rain 19:00 57 48 19 138 (SE) 1707 cloudy lt rain 20:00 57 47 10 92 (E) 2090 cloudy none 21:00 59 47 15 148 (SSE) mstly cldy none 22:00 60 54 22 126 (SE) 3457 mstly cldy none 23:00 60 53 20 139 (SE) 2969 ptly cldy none 00:00 59 53 20 140 (SE) 2940 mstly clr none 01:00 58 53 21 149 (SSE) 2918 ptly cldy none 02:00 59 52 21 176 (S) 2467 mstly clr none 03:00 59 51 17 179 (S) 2078 mstly clr none 04:00 58 52 6 179 (S) 2408 mstly clr none 05:00 58 52 8 185 (S) 2072 mstly clr none 06:00 57 53 16 164 (SSE) mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
