We were able to open at midnight so long as we kept away from the west. however, we had a collision at 77 alt when user pointed dead into the wind. I was attempting to correct the course before the wind gusted but was not able to correct in time. We had a motion error when moving from alt 70 to 50 mostly out of the wind so I wonder if that was a "normal" motion error. Despite the high dust and winds, we had moderately good seeing. Sure, the numbers look bad, but we were at high airmass. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:11 kosmos 219( 1043) 221 77 9.8 10.2 10.9 10.3 9.8 -- 1.27 01:37 arctic 476( 1294) 110 25 8.7 8.3 9.0 8.3 8.2 sdss-g 2.40 02:14 arctic 442( 1237) 106 32 8.2 7.9 8.6 7.9 8.0 3250 1.50 03:56 arctic 418( 1174) 257 51 7.9 7.4 8.0 7.5 7.6 3250 2.12 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 58 12 27 261 (W) 4744 clear dust 17:00 57 9 32 263 (W) 5067 clear dust 18:00 58 8 31 268 (W) 4394 clear dust 19:00 56 5 32 248 (WSW) 5324 clear dust 20:00 53 3 36 257 (WSW) 4563 clear dust 21:00 53 5 32 270 (W) 4288 clear dust 22:00 51 6 28 273 (W) 3819 clear none 23:00 51 6 32 271 (W) 2944 clear none 00:00 50 9 25 280 (W) 2488 clear none 01:00 49 10 29 276 (W) 2450 clear none 02:00 48 11 26 274 (W) 2234 clear none 03:00 47 10 28 276 (W) 2104 clear none 04:00 47 10 26 288 (WNW) 1905 clear none 05:00 46 11 21 276 (W) 1890 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
