Conditions were good initially (clear, low humidity and dust, 1.7 arc second seeing) until a weather system with strong outflows brought a rapid onset of dust, 5+ arc second seeing and humidity just after 03:00. Possible dust event: the 1-micron dust count climbed to about 5500 before I could close, and humidity was increasing above 60%. With poor conditions following good science, the observer decided to give up. We closed for the night early. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:27 kosmos 300( 1498) -121 62 17.9 18.1 18.4 17.6 17.8 - 1.74 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 74 24 30 232 (SW) 904 clear none 17:00 72 22 17 266 (W) 1060 clear none 18:00 69 19 19 305 (NW) 1213 clear none 19:00 68 18 11 260 (W) 1227 clear none 20:00 65 15 12 267 (W) 2668 clear none 21:00 64 14 15 286 (WNW) 1324 clear none 22:00 63 13 14 288 (WNW) 886 clear none 23:00 64 13 15 308 (NW) 842 clear none 00:00 63 12 5 340 (NNW) 771 mstly clr none 01:00 63 13 12 322 (NW) 951 mstly clr none 02:00 63 13 12 313 (NW) 974 mstly clr none 03:00 54 14 12 83 (E) 1399 mstly clr dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
