The students tackled two projects and they were very productive securing a wealth of high-quality data based on the initial quick-looks. This first CU group is done with their training. The telescope-dome was in a collisional hold at the initial afternoon slew checks. It cleared on the first reset and served as a training experience for Mark. The weather was partly cloudy for almost the entirety of B Half, but the flare star being surveilled was generally just beyond the line where the clouds were appreciably thinner near the zenith. Accordingly, the observer secured hundreds of ARCTIC exposures while simultaneously using ARCSAT as a part of the monitoring project. The 1-m Planewave technician finished his two-day session and checked out with us during A Half. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:53 klow 420( 1076) 166 51 3.8 6.4 5.8 6.2 4.4 - 1.51 21:44 klow 303( 740) 189 52 2.9 1.7 3.2 2.3 2.5 - 1.89 00:30 arctic 460( 960) 138 36 3.6 1.7 3.2 2.6 3.1 ARCTIC4170 1.37 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 47 11 11 236 (SW) 420 mstly clr none 17:00 44 12 14 249 (WSW) 493 mstly clr none 18:00 40 16 14 232 (SW) 728 mstly clr none 19:00 39 15 14 233 (SW) 711 mstly clr none 20:00 38 14 14 233 (SW) 709 mstly clr none 21:00 38 15 9 218 (SW) 718 mstly clr none 22:00 38 12 15 255 (WSW) 490 mstly clr none 23:00 38 12 18 267 (W) 475 mstly clr none 00:00 39 11 12 267 (W) 446 mstly clr none 01:00 39 11 14 274 (W) 533 mstly clr none 02:00 38 14 11 293 (WNW) 688 mstly clr none 03:00 38 13 12 268 (W) 671 ptly cldy none 04:00 37 12 9 264 (W) 514 ptly cldy none 05:00 37 15 9 285 (WNW) 724 ptly cldy none 06:00 36 15 11 268 (W) 724 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
