Instruments and telescope worked well. However, the new 1.25" HIGH KOSMOS slit revealed a few undesirable features when used on-sky that will need to be assessed during engineering. We did tests throughout the night on echelle as it settles after cooling. Bill will reassess on Thursday when it will be ready for observations. Continued to train Mark on operations including focusing, ARCTIC filters and mounting instruments. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:17 tcamera 374( 1139) 33 59 2.0 4.5 4.2 5.6 2.9 Ks 1.28 21:01 kimage 350( 729) -20 79 1.4 0.8 1.8 1.2 1.3 - 1.03 03:17 arctic 400( 856) 331 40 1.2 0.9 1.9 1.5 1.6 CUVR 3.80 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 40 12 10 313 (NW) 530 clear none 17:00 40 11 16 290 (WNW) 608 clear none 18:00 37 11 8 267 (W) 584 clear none 19:00 36 12 11 263 (W) 543 clear none 20:00 35 10 13 209 (SSW) 623 clear none 21:00 34 8 17 232 (SW) 717 clear none 22:00 34 9 15 249 (WSW) 545 clear none 23:00 35 9 6 267 (W) 576 clear none 00:00 36 10 14 283 (WNW) 495 clear none 01:00 35 9 14 308 (NW) 541 mstly clr none 02:00 35 9 14 306 (NW) 540 ptly cldy none 03:00 36 8 12 325 (NW) 533 ptly cldy none 04:00 36 8 10 327 (NNW) 504 ptly cldy none 05:00 37 5 14 323 (NW) 414 ptly cldy none 06:00 38 4 15 292 (WNW) 478 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
