I cycled the mirror covers at high altitude and then it opened. There were a few drifts of snow left on the roof but in less-dangerous locations, so since the wind was low at sunset we opened up. We closed for a few hours around 20:00 when the wind and gust speeds got higher, and then reopened and spent time observing with the telescope pointed directly into the wind. At 02:20 the wind gusts got too high for comfort again and we closed up. We were unable to reopen. I parked the dome facing west to try melting more of the snow on the NA2 side, just in case we get some time on sky before the next big snowstorm in the forecast...starting tomorrow night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:02 arctic 436( 1029) 128 34 4.4 3.7 3.4 3.2 2.8 BG40 1.57 00:27 arctic 360( 802) -42 59 2.0 0.9 1.9 1.5 1.6 CUVR 1.17 00:27 arctic 360( 802) -42 59 2.0 0.9 1.9 1.5 1.6 CUVR 1.17 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 41 9 7 274 (W) 111 clear none 17:00 40 6 6 290 (WNW) 30 clear none 18:00 38 11 9 285 (WNW) 104 clear none 19:00 37 3 12 218 (SW) 98 clear none 20:00 39 7 20 265 (W) 106 clear none 21:00 39 11 11 278 (W) 95 clear none 22:00 37 12 8 249 (WSW) 90 clear none 23:00 36 12 15 230 (SW) 112 clear none 00:00 35 14 15 240 (WSW) 147 mstly clr none 01:00 36 14 19 244 (WSW) 197 ptly cldy none 02:00 35 15 16 256 (WSW) 229 mstly cldy none 03:00 34 16 17 253 (WSW) 356 mstly clr none 04:00 34 17 21 247 (WSW) 415 mstly clr none 05:00 33 20 15 255 (WSW) 658 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
