It was a team effort tonight. During the day there was a software issue that affected hub35m and how it mounts data drives which rendered all the instruments useless and they would not respond to commands. I sent a longer email with details. Shane was able to bring back Tspec and the echelle but he needs to address more extensive troubleshooting to bring back the other instruments. Since we could not use Kosmos or Arctic tonight, we looked for tspec and echelle users who could use the time. NM06 was able to take A half and part of B while new trainee from UW03 was able to take B half. Both were very happy to get some extra data for their dissertations! The initial plan for the night was: SU01/R 18:55 01:10 0 0 0 0 6.2 0.0 0 0 UW07/R 01:10 06:50 0 0 0 0 5.6 0.1 0 0 I marked the first few hours of SU01 as time lost until we could find an observer to step in. It was a beautiful, clear night with good seeing. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SU01 K I/S 18:55 21:45 can't connect to kosmos or arctic ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:48 ecamera 417( 183) 240 39 9.9 9.6 10.3 9.5 9.6 Clear 1.26 01:56 ecamera 333( 29) 70 67 9.6 8.5 9.0 8.4 8.9 ND1 0.99 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 60 31 3 71 (ENE) 2430 clear none 17:00 60 32 12 67 (ENE) 1788 clear none 18:00 57 31 12 84 (E) 1817 clear none 19:00 52 31 21 71 (ENE) 1910 clear none 20:00 51 32 16 81 (E) 1808 clear none 21:00 51 32 20 76 (ENE) 1624 clear none 22:00 50 33 17 83 (E) 1872 clear none 23:00 49 32 13 88 (E) 1965 clear none 00:00 49 32 14 88 (E) 1947 clear none 01:00 48 32 10 89 (E) 1842 clear none 02:00 50 24 13 81 (E) 1230 clear none 03:00 48 29 9 92 (E) 1418 clear none 04:00 50 20 1 240 (WSW) 663 clear none 05:00 51 25 2 238 (WSW) 1256 clear none 06:00 48 30 1 155 (SSE) 1713 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
