So the echelle will be out of service for a couple of weeks to be warmed and pumped and have some nitrogen fittings replaced. I asked a couple of programs that recently lost time to weather, and BY04 agreed to take the second-half slot that was scheduled for NM10. More schedule adjustments will be needed for the next two weeks or so. In addition to the echelle difficulty, we still have some snow on the roof and so there was a wind restriction of 10 mph while the mirrors remain above freezing. Surprisingly, this condition was met and so several programs were able to observe with high cirrus and good seeing. During the night, I tried some more interventions to get the DIS red camera back, without success. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:16 tcamera 290( 1171) 137 65 5.1 7.1 6.7 6.4 5.8 Ks 1.02 19:02 tcamera 263( 1097) 40 57 4.7 6.0 5.8 5.3 5.0 Ks 0.97 20:53 arctic 337( 964) 224 44 5.6 4.6 5.0 4.4 4.7 Semrock 0.80 01:35 tcamera 275( 992) -30 55 4.9 3.5 4.3 3.3 3.8 Ks 0.96 02:46 NICFPS 339( 1305) -53 45 4.3 3.3 4.2 3.2 3.6 H 1.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 46 15 8 286 (WNW) 183 mstly clr none 17:00 43 16 7 271 (W) 246 mstly clr none 18:00 41 14 7 268 (W) 260 mstly clr none 19:00 41 10 7 270 (W) 149 mstly clr none 20:00 42 6 6 266 (W) 100 mstly clr none 21:00 42 4 5 257 (WSW) 100 mstly clr none 22:00 42 2 6 269 (W) 73 mstly clr none 23:00 41 6 5 267 (W) 126 mstly clr none 00:00 41 6 1 311 (NW) 103 mstly clr none 01:00 41 6 2 254 (WSW) 89 mstly clr none 02:00 41 7 1 217 (SW) 104 mstly clr none 03:00 40 5 2 266 (W) 74 mstly clr none 04:00 40 4 3 330 (NNW) 42 mstly clr none 05:00 41 2 3 258 (WSW) 53 mstly clr none 06:00 41 5 5 247 (WSW) 74 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
