Winds were gusting over 40 mph and you could see the wall of dust on satellite. Things were not expected to improve before dawn so I called it at 4am. Since we weren’t able to open, we tested the DIS grating turret, which was fine. Amanda and I worked on writing up documentation for changing the tertiary by hand. We just about have a complete document. I tested out the nightlog on the new computer and found that the first two sections do not auto fill with program, user, instrument, or time information. I was not able to get the echelle IOL script to run but I emailed both of these things to Gordon. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 69 42 26 134 (SE) 6054 clear dust 17:00 68 44 17 113 (ESE) 6316 clear dust 18:00 68 44 23 122 (ESE) 6172 clear dust 19:00 65 44 8 117 (ESE) 6395 clear dust 20:00 62 42 17 112 (ESE) 6173 clear dust 21:00 61 42 26 112 (ESE) 5086 clear dust 22:00 60 42 23 101 (E) 5040 clear dust 23:00 60 40 27 104 (ESE) 4507 clear dust 00:00 59 40 20 112 (ESE) 5731 clear dust 01:00 59 41 30 80 (E) 9209 clear dust 02:00 58 43 30 112 (ESE) 6451 clear dust 03:00 58 45 33 112 (ESE) 5639 clear dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
