We delayed opening for thick high clouds until I was confident that radar was not an issue. We were able to focus with very nice seeing, but the data-taking was affected by clouds. The observer had already paused observations when I discovered pollen on the cloudcam. Pollen counts appeared to be moderately high (110-150 per hour on sample plates), maybe not enough to force closure, but in combination with the clouds I decided to close for a while. After midnight I re-opened for a nice hole, and the observer managed to get a high-priority target. After the instrument switch, the next program could identify some of their fields but couldn't get anything from the actual targets. NICFPS behaved perfectly when called upon at short notice! The primary mirror telemetry did not, and had to be restarted more than once. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:57 NICFPS 352( 1447) 253 47 11.7 13.5 13.6 13.4 12.1 J 0.77 00:31 NICFPS 374( 1372) 276 46 11.7 11.5 12.3 11.4 11.6 J 1.09 01:26 klow 422( 950) 68 30 10.3 10.7 11.5 10.6 10.5 - 1.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 59 14 19 249 (WSW) 1485 mstly clr none 17:00 59 16 21 267 (W) 1672 ptly cldy none 18:00 60 18 19 251 (WSW) 1534 ptly cldy none 19:00 56 17 18 236 (SW) 1812 mstly cldy none 20:00 54 15 13 263 (W) 1932 ptly cldy none 21:00 53 14 12 262 (W) 2056 cloudy none 22:00 53 14 10 262 (W) 1926 cloudy none 23:00 53 14 14 290 (WNW) 1742 cloudy none 00:00 53 14 8 262 (W) 1788 ptly cldy none 01:00 52 14 10 263 (W) 1539 mstly cldy none 02:00 51 14 9 277 (W) 1506 cloudy none 03:00 50 12 12 326 (NW) 1536 mstly cldy none 04:00 50 12 5 327 (NNW) 1585 mstly cldy none 05:00 50 14 8 321 (NW) 1751 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
