I kept the fans off and louvers closed until sunset, per Russet for test purposes. Russet did some collimation tests with the telescope parked initially at 10 deg alt. Between her observations I collected throughput data. We had an issue with the STV for APOLLO so we counted part of that time as equip loss and donated the rest back to engineering. Russet took more collimation data and then I took more throughput data then switched to doing a pointing model On Obs0 I could not run the 100 pt grid. I got an error Failed: No az/alt grid selected. I ran it on Obs1, which worked but did not show my stars on the grid (the grid was white with nothing there at all). 100 point pointing model completed and implemented. Pointing was checked at NA2 (guider) and NA1 (Echelle) and looked good. I gathered more throughput data after the pointing model to end the night I also worked on the ARCTIC skyflat script and I think I fixed the early expose while image not read out problem. I tested it during the morning twilight to get sky flats. Script ran fine. No telescope problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AP01 APOLLO I/H 00:10 00:25 STV seems to be dead, no lights ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:12 shack 650( 1804) 64 58 10.0 11.8 11.6 11.7 10.3 -- 0.90 21:29 arctic 447( 974) -3 52 10.0 10.0 10.5 9.7 9.5 sdss_r 0.98 22:27 arctic 433( 922) -25 49 10.0 9.2 9.8 8.9 9.1 sdss_r 0.93 00:52 arctic 405( 842) 26 55 10.0 8.1 8.8 8.1 8.2 sdss_r 1.21 01:28 NA2gdr 1280(37280) 67 32 10.0 7.8 8.5 7.7 7.8 R 1.43 04:19 arctic 446( 832) -54 42 10.0 6.9 7.5 7.0 7.3 SDSS_r 0.89 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 26 266 (W) 2895 mstly clr none 17:00 24 265 (W) 2657 mstly clr none 18:00 24 257 (WSW) 2589 mstly clr none 19:00 22 266 (W) 2650 clear none 20:00 17 255 (WSW) 2136 clear none 21:00 13 265 (W) 2019 clear none 22:00 20 270 (W) 2325 clear none 23:00 15 270 (W) 2334 clear none 00:00 15 281 (W) 2229 clear none 01:00 16 294 (WNW) 2149 clear none 02:00 19 272 (W) 2142 clear none 03:00 17 291 (WNW) 2172 clear none 04:00 14 266 (W) 2089 clear none 05:00 14 266 (W) 2212 clear none 06:00 14 254 (WSW) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
