We had a beautiful aurora on the cloud cam tonight. Very bright pink and blue in the camera but unfortunately the moonlight and dust made it impossible to see visually. The earth was hit with a CME earlier today. Clouds came back around 00:50 and I decided to close at 01:10. We never re-opened. I had to restart the KOSMOS torrent when a bad stop command hung it. My observer called it for the night at 04:25. Rain sensor went off at 04:33. We had elevated dust levels all night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:48 kosmos 337( 692) 239 62 10.0 7.5 8.4 7.5 6.8 -- 1.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 11 211 (SSW) 2793 mstly cldy none 17:00 11 241 (WSW) 3077 cloudy none 18:00 9 235 (SW) 2705 cloudy none 19:00 4 215 (SW) 3542 cloudy dust 20:00 8 260 (W) 5759 cloudy dust 21:00 8 261 (W) 6149 ptly cldy dust 22:00 12 264 (W) 6028 mstly clr dust 23:00 13 240 (WSW) 5250 mstly clr dust 00:00 15 233 (SW) 4902 ptly cldy dust 01:00 12 249 (WSW) 4555 cloudy dust 02:00 16 240 (WSW) 3861 cloudy dust 03:00 13 202 (SSW) 4021 cloudy dust 04:00 6 223 (SW) 3724 cloudy lt rain Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
