The telescope stopped at alt 20.8. I reinitialized the axis, moved it down to alt 10, then to alt 75 with no additional issues. Probably just an early instance of the alt drive's spring/autumn quirkiness. It was windy during the afternoon and evening, dancing between 25-35 mph. Clouds moved in around sunset. Luckily, speckle imaging of bright stars is apparently not too bothered by thin clouds, so UV01 was able to get good data...at least until rain popped up on radar around 20:45, which forced us to close around 21:00. It never actually rained on-site, and once the precipitation disappeared from radar we reopened around 22:45. At this point the clouds were thick enough that UV01 didn't get much good data (but observed anyway). The clouds finally thinned out after 03:00, and the rest of the night was uneventful. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:29 dssi 947( 1760) 22 56 10.0 9.8 9.1 9.3 8.7 692 1.50 05:25 APOLLO 400( 1382) 306 27 10.0 4.8 5.4 4.9 4.9 530 2.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 25 267 (W) 779 mstly clr none 17:00 20 262 (W) 631 ptly cldy none 18:00 20 266 (W) 444 ptly cldy none 19:00 25 272 (W) 468 mstly cldy none 20:00 26 265 (W) 586 mstly cldy none 21:00 28 287 (WNW) 1053 cloudy none 22:00 23 290 (WNW) 796 cloudy none 23:00 22 292 (WNW) 722 cloudy none 00:00 24 277 (W) 439 cloudy none 01:00 20 282 (WNW) 267 cloudy none 02:00 13 260 (W) 307 cloudy none 03:00 13 263 (W) 325 ptly cldy none 04:00 16 284 (WNW) 270 mstly clr none 05:00 17 288 (WNW) 271 clear none 06:00 18 283 (WNW) 222 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
