Observing Specialist: A.Townsend
Tonight we had fog, rain, high winds, and a few inches of snow. We did not open.
Gordon and I tested the view image functionality in TUI3 on newer mac OS versions.
Snow started accumulating by 02:00 so I started the snow program.
We had a power flash around 03:00 which halted the telescope. A second one happened around 03:45 in the middle of a slew, which caused a dome collision. I stopped the snow program and did instrument fills. I had to reset the dome controller on top of resolving the physical collision. Despite the minor interruptions, we never lost power entirely, we’re still on utility.
We did not get up to the forecasted 60mph wind gusts tonight, we maxed out around 45mph. I parked the dome to the east as most of the wind is coming from WSW and there's still a lot of wind and snow in the forecast for today.
Temperatures tonight started around 1C and trended downward all night to about -5C. Humidity was above 90% and it was very foggy all night, even while it was snowing.
