Bill had to come in and ended up replacing a module for the Alt, NA2 and Agile rotators that seems to have gone bad. (see PR 2171) After that we were able to get on sky. I closed the dome for a few minutes at changeover because the wind gusts got fairly high and I had to uncollide the dome after stopping the telescope while pointed into the wind. I marked this time as lost to weather since the wind gusts were over the limit. We opened back up and stayed pointed away from the wind for the rest of the night! At about 03:29 we had an earthquake! Probably the 5.3 mag southeast of us in Texas. We did see shaking in the telescope telemetry and on the slitviewer, but the telescope had no trouble and continued to guide. We had clear skies all night but it was pretty windy! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OU01 KOSMOS T/H 17:16 20:13 1 Hz Clock signal lost on Alt, NA2 rot axes ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:19 kosmos 317( 1210) 92 66 10.9 11.5 11.6 11.5 10.8 -- 1.43 01:48 dcamera 458( 1081) -28 57 9.7 9.4 9.9 9.4 9.6 -- 1.53 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 56 27 24 250 (WSW) 437 clear none 17:00 54 27 19 260 (W) 649 clear none 18:00 52 27 18 268 (W) 487 clear none 19:00 51 27 22 278 (W) 690 clear none 20:00 53 27 20 265 (W) 553 clear none 21:00 52 27 22 268 (W) 570 clear none 22:00 50 27 22 261 (W) 550 clear none 23:00 50 27 21 266 (W) 770 clear none 00:00 50 25 29 268 (W) 658 clear none 01:00 49 26 26 268 (W) 536 clear none 02:00 48 27 27 268 (W) 759 clear none 03:00 46 28 30 263 (W) 400 clear none 04:00 46 31 27 271 (W) 447 clear none 05:00 45 31 24 269 (W) 448 clear none 06:00 45 31 23 266 (W) 456 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
