DSSI noticed some high-frequency (many times a second) oscillations in their data around 20:30. These oscillations were small, but noticeable in the drive current strip charts. It appeared to be mostly in the aximuth direction, but with some component in the altitude direction. The total magnitude of the movement appeared to be about an arcsecond, as judged from the DSSI frames. The telescope was pointed around az 153.1, alt 53.1. We were pointed directly into the wind of about 10 mph. Once we slewed away from the wind, we didn't have issues on other targets. We slewed back to that star later (around 22:30) and found similar oscillations again (az 172, alt 60) but the wind had shifted too and was again coming from roughly the direction we were facing, so that is consistent with the hypothesis that the wind may have induced some of the oscillations. No other problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:56 dssi 422( 1897) -13 59 14.7 16.4 15.6 15.9 15.3 682 0.90 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 62 24 9 319 (NW) 1806 clear none 17:00 62 22 1 252 (WSW) 1737 clear none 18:00 61 20 1 6 (N) 1560 clear none 19:00 59 23 10 54 (NE) 1292 clear none 20:00 57 20 10 23 (NNE) 971 clear none 21:00 56 23 14 58 (ENE) 1151 clear none 22:00 56 21 8 26 (NNE) 1238 clear none 23:00 58 18 1 216 (SW) 1294 clear none 00:00 57 19 8 359 (N) 1239 clear none 01:00 56 20 6 264 (W) 1186 clear none 02:00 55 21 7 259 (W) 1266 clear none 03:00 55 21 2 242 (WSW) 1365 clear none 04:00 54 21 3 270 (W) 1428 clear none 05:00 53 21 6 324 (NW) 1459 clear none 06:00 53 22 3 309 (NW) 1745 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
