I opted to close the mirror covers and see if the dust would fall, like it did yesterday. The mirror covers closed should at least help keep some dust off the primary, and I also turned off the Telesx fans. 05:32 we had SecState not homed error. 2022-05-22 05:32:20 .tcc.0 0 tcc W Text="Device Command A=1177304; B=2139135; C=1042054; D=-20966; E=-55787; XQ #MOVE Failing: ?HMERR some axes to be moved have not been homed 1, 1, 1, 1, 1" 2022-05-22 05:32:20 .tcc.0 0 tcc w Text="Collimation Failure: ?HMERR some axes to be moved have not been homed 1, 1, 1, 1, 1" 2022-05-22 05:32:20 .tcc.0 0 tcc I SecState=Moving,1,5,0.0,0.0 This was just before we closed (maybe 5 mins or so). Russet noticed the error as it was displayed as well in the Mirror Status window. Once we were able to re-open and slew the telescope to high alt, Russet fixed the problem. Russet believed the Galil got spontaneously power cycled. We had no power glitches on site. It appears that only the secondary galil power cycled itself. Others were fine. After Russet reset the galil and homed the secondary, when we were ready to re-open the mirror covers seemed to have a hic-up and fist acted like they wouldn't open. Cycling the NA2 eyelid and then re-trying opening the covers seemed to fix the issue. They closed fine when I closed for dust earlier. Russet sent out a separate detailed report to the engineering staff. We checked pointing around 01:00 which ate about 13 mins into the 2nd half program. Pointing was good with NA2 and NA1. Seeing on the other hand was horrible with variable seeing between 4 and 5+ arc seconds. Some wild temp/wind direction fluctuations during the mid/later part of the 2nd half tonight. Outside temp swings from 9.6C to 4.4C and back in the span of 3-4 minutes, on the old sensors but also seen on the optidews, just not as quickly. The temp seemed highly dependent upon the wind direction, which was swinging all over the place as well. Dust was high all night, and we flirted back and forth just over the new limits several times. Dust finally closed us at 04:30, we never re-opened. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:24 arctic 685( 1676) 56 66 14.0 15.7 15.5 15.5 15.4 SDSS_r 1.38 21:14 arctic 454( 1319) 293 83 11.0 13.3 13.6 12.5 12.9 SDSS_r 2.27 21:15 NA2gdr 931(34931) 292 83 11.1 13.2 13.6 12.5 12.9 R 2.29 01:39 ecamera 600( 65) -27 46 8.2 6.5 8.2 6.4 6.2 ND1 4.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 65 25 14 213 (SSW) 3105 clear dust 17:00 66 22 20 212 (SSW) 2740 clear dust 18:00 63 24 12 190 (S) 3304 clear dust 19:00 61 24 19 183 (S) 3641 clear dust 20:00 57 21 22 175 (S) 3182 clear dust 21:00 52 27 17 142 (SE) 3178 clear dust 22:00 46 27 13 96 (E) 2416 clear dust 23:00 46 28 17 82 (E) 3044 clear dust 00:00 46 28 12 92 (E) 5287 clear dust 01:00 44 28 13 81 (E) 3827 clear dust 02:00 43 28 7 93 (E) 3337 clear dust 03:00 42 28 2 61 (ENE) 3050 clear dust 04:00 45 27 13 185 (S) 3597 clear dust 05:00 49 25 11 184 (S) 6046 clear dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
