A rather depressing night with clear skies but dust levels just over our opening limits, per email discussion with Bill earlier today. The dust did dip below 5000cts for a while and it looked promising for a little while, but alas, dust levels rose and dashed our hopes. I did allow ARCSAT to open, as we are less stringent on dust with that telescope. The problem with the 2.5m weather sensor repeatedly caused the shutter to automatically close. I used the bypass repeatedly to keep the telescope open. We also needed to restart the software on ARCSAT a couple times tonight as ACP became sluggish. Restartig software alone seemed to fix the problem, for a while at least. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 64 12 11 253 (WSW) 5483 clear dust 17:00 62 14 27 269 (W) 5492 clear dust 18:00 61 12 22 247 (WSW) 5302 clear dust 19:00 58 12 17 265 (W) 5049 clear dust 20:00 54 11 16 251 (WSW) 5014 clear dust 21:00 52 11 14 247 (WSW) 4834 clear dust 22:00 52 11 24 248 (WSW) 4984 clear dust 23:00 51 12 10 272 (W) 5173 clear dust 00:00 50 12 5 274 (W) 5024 clear dust 01:00 51 11 5 252 (WSW) 4954 clear dust 02:00 51 9 7 198 (SSW) 4758 clear dust 03:00 49 12 14 239 (WSW) 4598 clear dust 04:00 48 12 12 243 (WSW) 4823 clear dust 05:00 48 14 11 244 (WSW) 4961 clear dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
