There were thin clouds and/or smoke for most of the night. The lunar eclipse was very pretty! We got to check it out while we were encouraging APOLLO to cool off upstairs. I checked the NA2 Rotator but didn't zero because it was already very good. We started having trouble with the altitude drive at the start of engineering time, so Bill (thank you!) logged in and changed the PID loop earlier than planned for summer. This seems to have fixed the large oscillations, whale song, and lack of proper tracking we were seeing—there were no more problems during B-half. Afterwards we tested slews, made an update to the position, and Russet did a short pointing model. I also recovered the arctic dropped quad tonight. B-half was very smooth. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:57 APOLLO 350( 2261) 51 29 17.6 20.3 20.2 19.4 19.4 530 1.40 23:24 tcamera 422( 1616) 28 65 17.4 16.9 17.7 16.8 17.2 Ks 0.89 01:16 ecamera 365( 300) -41 38 17.9 16.3 17.1 16.1 16.7 Clear 0.91 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 77 -1 15 245 (WSW) 1624 mstly clr none 17:00 75 -1 11 245 (WSW) 1582 mstly clr none 18:00 73 -1 13 216 (SW) 1708 mstly clr none 19:00 69 -5 12 219 (SW) 1796 mstly clr none 20:00 65 -9 7 241 (WSW) 1861 mstly clr none 21:00 64 -10 8 184 (S) 1853 mstly clr none 22:00 62 -10 6 181 (S) 1828 mstly clr none 23:00 64 -9 8 168 (SSE) 1902 mstly clr none 00:00 64 -5 11 138 (SE) 1900 mstly clr none 01:00 64 -7 14 143 (SE) 2074 mstly clr none 02:00 64 -8 15 142 (SE) 1736 mstly clr none 03:00 63 -8 12 154 (SSE) 1369 mstly clr none 04:00 57 14 15 117 (ESE) 2470 mstly clr none 05:00 61 11 18 128 (SE) 1928 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
