Dust and humidity both kept creeping up until we closed, then stabilized right near the limit. The only thing that changed was that the target field moved further west away from the wind direction. So a few hours later I decided to give it a try and see how much advantage we got pointing away from the wind. It wasn't much advantage, but soon after that the wind moderated and so did dust and humidity, so we stayed open. Everything worked well tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:49 dcamera 350( 739) 128 70 4.4 7.6 8.2 7.5 6.4 - 2.95 00:36 dcamera 597( 720) 239 50 1.2 1.8 4.7 2.6 2.7 - 2.79 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 50 19 10 301 (WNW) 4996 clear none 17:00 55 24 9 263 (W) 2466 clear none 18:00 53 23 5 272 (W) 2938 clear none 19:00 46 25 9 87 (E) 1975 clear none 20:00 41 26 17 82 (E) 2507 clear none 21:00 40 26 23 74 (ENE) 3442 clear none 22:00 39 27 26 79 (E) 5185 clear none 23:00 38 27 22 76 (ENE) 6111 clear dust 00:00 36 26 21 79 (E) 5958 clear dust 01:00 35 25 26 72 (ENE) 6006 clear dust 02:00 34 25 19 77 (ENE) 5932 clear none 03:00 33 24 18 79 (E) 5258 clear none 04:00 35 24 10 86 (E) 5531 clear none 05:00 42 14 15 110 (ESE) 5579 clear none 06:00 40 17 19 116 (ESE) 5935 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
