We had informed the observer earlier in the week of the NICFPS problems but they were supposed to be on standby tonight, along with the JH07 program as backup, if NICFPS was unavailable. Russet had emailed with the JH06 observer early in the day that NICFPS was available for tonight. I also specifically emailed them in the afternoon about this. Unfortunately they were observing from S. Africa tonight and didn't see the emails, along with some electrical issues there. Due to this the JH06 observer didn't show up on time. After scrambling to call them in S. Africa and leaving a voicemail message, and then leaving a voicemail message with the program PI, we finally were able to get hold of the backup program JH07 observer to use the time. T The JH06 observer logged in just as the JH07 program had started a 30 minute observation. We let the J07 program finish this observation and get any calibration stars necessary then they both agreed to hand the time back to JH06. At 23:50 we had a dust spike which caused me to close shortly afterwards. We re-opened once the dust levels came back down to acceptable levels at 02:00. No problems otherwise. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:27 NICFPS 471( 1161) 91 65 -0.1 0.9 1.4 1.0 1.1 Ks 0.79 18:56 ecamera 418( -407) 34 52 -0.1 0.4 1.0 0.3 0.3 clear 1.30 20:10 NICFPS 306( 938) 116 55 -0.7 -0.5 -0.0 -0.9 -0.8 Ks 1.16 02:04 tcamera 403( 735) -14 69 -1.4 -1.4 -1.3 -2.0 -1.9 Ks 1.15 04:29 ecamera 371( -538) 34 63 -1.6 -1.2 -1.2 -1.6 -1.6 clear 0.80 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 40 2 8 225 (SW) 861 clear none 17:00 38 4 26 222 (SW) 840 clear none 18:00 34 0 18 224 (SW) 1371 clear none 19:00 31 -1 20 243 (WSW) 1390 clear none 20:00 31 -1 16 244 (WSW) 1203 clear none 21:00 30 0 10 237 (WSW) 1354 clear none 22:00 30 1 15 260 (W) 1722 clear none 23:00 30 1 9 262 (W) 2524 clear dust 00:00 30 2 17 215 (SW) 7805 clear dust 01:00 29 2 18 235 (SW) 5295 clear dust 02:00 29 2 11 254 (WSW) 2724 clear none 03:00 30 2 9 260 (W) 719 clear none 04:00 30 2 8 261 (W) 631 clear none 05:00 29 3 8 271 (W) 457 clear none 06:00 29 3 7 259 (W) 459 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
