I also updated the wiki for how to do this and approx values for a given outside temp based on Amanda's findings. We tried the mask file for the 2.0 low slit but it seemed to wash all the faint stars completely out of the field. We reverted back to the old bias mask which seemed show the faint stars much better. The targets fell fairly well on the Echelle but when we switched to KOSMOS Feige 34 landed on the right side. The observers targets also landed on the right side as well (about 1/4 of the field to the right). We saw a large drift, about half the field, while guiding between guider images 375-376. See TUI log output below. The drift was in altitude. I re-centered the object on the slit and re-started guiding. Nothing obvious, ie. command sent, caused this unexpected move. 2022-03-27 10:49:25 CmdDone: client-711 640 fits finish kcam infile=/export/images/kcam/UT220327/k0375.fits outfile=/export/images/kcam/UT220327/k0375.fits 022-03-27 10:49:26 .tcc.0 0 tcc i TCCPos=-111.364419,30.549650,37.673108; AxePos=-111.364334,30.549915,37.680521; ObjInstAng=75.00172205,0.00000000,5155091881.2645607; SpiderInstAng=6.73430375,0.00148596,5155094972.4317284 2022-03-27 10:49:27 APO.APO-Jack 350 kcam w text="no offset generated" 2022-03-27 10:49:54 CmdDone: client-711 644 kcamera expose exptime=25.0 bin=1,1 offset=0,0 size=1024,1024 filename=/export/images/kcam/UT220327/k0376.fits 2022-03-27 10:49:56 .tcc.0 0 tcc i TCCPos=-111.409724,30.451534,37.619559; AxePos=-111.409768,30.451803,37.627038; ObjInstAng=75.00172205,0.00000000,5155091881.2645607; SpiderInstAng=6.77890196,0.00148754,5155095002.4317284 Pointing seemed fine at the next object. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:43 ecamera 351( 89) 57 64 10.8 12.5 12.2 11.7 12.2 ND4 0.66 01:41 klow 377( 1023) -121 62 11.2 9.5 10.1 9.4 9.9 -- 1.03 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 57 11 13 247 (WSW) 2576 ptly cldy none 17:00 57 13 12 270 (W) 2633 ptly cldy none 18:00 57 13 7 239 (WSW) 2899 ptly cldy none 19:00 51 11 7 252 (WSW) 2987 ptly cldy none 20:00 52 6 9 204 (SSW) 2874 ptly cldy none 21:00 52 5 8 185 (S) 3031 mstly clr none 22:00 52 3 9 185 (S) 3207 mstly clr none 23:00 52 2 10 182 (S) 3222 mstly clr none 00:00 51 1 8 193 (SSW) 3296 mstly clr none 01:00 52 0 10 184 (S) 2651 mstly clr none 02:00 52 -2 9 226 (SW) 3309 mstly clr none 03:00 51 -1 9 212 (SSW) 2707 mstly clr none 04:00 51 -1 10 229 (SW) 2337 mstly clr none 05:00 51 -1 9 229 (SW) 2088 mstly clr none 06:00 50 -1 6 249 (WSW) 2226 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
