Alas, it wasn't to be. Almost as soon as I started my focus sweep the clouds came back and halted us for the next hour and a half. I kept the dome open, even though the dust levels were elevated to near closure level but never really went over 4200 cts outside. I also kept the mirror covers closed, but enclousre open. I was able to get on sky at 21:40 when the clouds finally parted enough for me to do a focus sweep and hand the telecope over to the observer. My second observer gave up (left phone number) at 02:23 due to clouds. Too many clouds for APOLLO tonight as well. We were able to observe Venus despite the clouds for the last program. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:48 AGILE 525(-1377) 223 54 2.4 1.6 2.8 2.2 2.2 BG40 1.90 00:25 NICFPS 452( 1148) -15 45 1.5 0.7 1.8 1.2 1.2 Fe2-1.64 1.46 00:33 NA2gdr 4504(47504) -18 45 1.4 0.7 1.7 1.1 1.2 clear 2.00 01:14 NICFPS 425( 1104) -168 51 1.2 0.5 1.4 0.8 0.9 H2-2.12 1.07 04:44 ecamera 392( -485) 135 69 -0.2 -0.5 -0.1 -0.7 -0.6 ND2 1.05 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 43 12 23 240 (WSW) 1670 mstly cldy none 17:00 40 10 27 222 (SW) 3597 cloudy none 18:00 38 7 21 219 (SW) 6895 cloudy dust 19:00 38 3 24 220 (SW) 8181 mstly cldy dust 20:00 37 2 17 218 (SW) 3884 cloudy none 21:00 38 0 20 210 (SSW) 3780 cloudy none 22:00 36 2 18 235 (SW) 1943 mstly cldy none 23:00 36 4 21 231 (SW) 1600 ptly cldy none 00:00 35 5 18 228 (SW) 1106 ptly cldy none 01:00 35 6 18 204 (SSW) 1026 mstly cldy none 02:00 34 9 20 225 (SW) 735 cloudy none 03:00 33 11 20 214 (SW) 941 cloudy none 04:00 32 14 25 203 (SSW) 949 cloudy none 05:00 32 12 24 198 (SSW) 1644 cloudy none 06:00 32 9 23 204 (SSW) 1341 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
