Also the alt current and error were also not happy. My observer noted streaking in the slit image (alt). I slewed the telescope and it gave me an alt motion error. After restarting the drives it slewed fine. It appeared to get unhappy when TSPEC went from B to A, that was when we saw the vertical streaking of the stars (alt unhappy). Details sent to Bill. At 02:53:01UT my observer did a Kosmos Abort. This hung the instrument writing the image. Luckily I was able to recover just by restarting the ICC (and setting the servodeadband). I warned my observer not to use the abort or stop buttons with KOSMOS at this time. Thicker Clouds rolled in around 04:15 which put a real damper on the last program of the night but Venus is bright and it was observable even with the clouds. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:58 tcamera 784( 1504) 42 49 4.6 6.6 5.8 6.3 5.5 Ks 1.18 19:46 kosmos 428( 816) 6 57 4.6 4.0 4.6 3.8 4.1 -- 1.10 05:07 ecamera 461( -370) -111 63 1.2 0.4 1.2 0.8 0.9 ND4 1.10 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 47 6 12 243 (WSW) 960 clear none 17:00 44 9 12 258 (WSW) 1186 clear none 18:00 41 7 22 222 (SW) 1250 clear none 19:00 39 5 14 243 (WSW) 890 mstly clr none 20:00 38 5 15 224 (SW) 909 mstly clr none 21:00 39 7 22 213 (SSW) 952 ptly cldy none 22:00 37 8 16 230 (SW) 1304 mstly cldy none 23:00 38 6 12 201 (SSW) 920 cloudy none 00:00 38 4 21 229 (SW) 1015 cloudy none 01:00 37 1 25 237 (WSW) 671 ptly cldy none 02:00 36 0 23 210 (SSW) 586 ptly cldy none 03:00 35 -1 18 216 (SW) 528 ptly cldy none 04:00 34 -1 11 241 (WSW) 410 cloudy none 05:00 34 1 18 253 (WSW) 559 ptly cldy none 06:00 32 3 18 225 (SW) 466 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
