Just, so bad! It was so fuzzy that we were losing guide stars for A half. But the winds shifted and things improved in B half, so that's good. Sadly, I did not see Santa. This is likely more a reflection on me than on him. No problems tonight (on this night, on this night, on this very Christmas night!) -------- A Christmas song for these troubling travel times: 'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the gates Not a creature was boarding, not even my mates The stockings were hung by the chimney with care In the hopes that delayed airplanes soon would be there The children they sniffled still curled in their Keds While visions of going home danced in their heads. Mom in her kerchief and I in my cap Had just settled down for a long delayed nap. When out on the tarmac there arose such a clatter I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter Away to the window I flew with a flash Tripped over the luggage and hit with a smash The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow Gave a luster of mid-day to objects below. When what to my wondering eyes should appear But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer With a little old driver so lively and quick Well I knew in a moment, it must be St. Nick More rapid than airlines, his coursers they came And he whistled and he shouted and he sent them each way "To Dallas, to Denver, on DC and Boston to Phoenix, to Charlotte, to Portland, and Austin! To the top of the coast, and to Charles de Gaulle Now, dash away, dash away, dash away all!" As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly When they meet to an obstacle mount to the sky So out to the cities the coursers they flew Leaving sleigh full of toys and St. Nicholas too. And then in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The dancing, the tapping of each little boot As I rubbed on my head and was turning around Down the jetway St. Nicholas came with a bound He was dressed all in fur from his head to his foot And his clothes were all tarnished with jetful and soot A bundle of vouchers he had flung on his back And he looked like a peddler just op'ning his pack His eyes, how they twinkled, his dimples, how merry His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry His droll little mouth was drawn up in a bow And the beard on his chin was as white as the bomb cyclone snow The stump of a pipe, he held tight in his teeth And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath He had a broad face and a little round belly That shook when laughed like a bowl full of jelly He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf And I laughed when I saw him in spite of myself A wink of his eye and a twist of his head Soon gave me to know I had no travels to dread He spoke not a word but went straight to his work We boarded all planes and he turned with a jerk And laying a finger to the side of his nose And giving a nod and up in the air we all rose He sprang to his sleigh, and to all flights gave a whistle And away they all flew like the down of a thistle But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight "Merry Christmas to all and to all..a good flight" ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:26 kosmos 554( 646) -29 48 37.3 1.8 2.4 2.5 0.5 -- 2.05 20:57 kosmos 430( 377) -15 55 37.3 -1.2 -0.9 -1.8 -1.8 -- 3.37 00:12 dcamera 458( 226) -115 37 37.3 -1.7 -1.7 -2.6 -2.1 -- 2.10 03:35 dcamera 501( 284) -33 66 37.3 -0.9 -0.6 -1.8 -0.6 -- 1.07 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 99 32 5 15 (NNE) 371 clear none 17:00 99 32 1 231 (SW) 1071 clear none 18:00 99 32 6 64 (ENE) 501 clear none 19:00 99 32 5 70 (ENE) 664 clear none 20:00 99 32 28 63 (ENE) 623 clear none 21:00 99 32 25 67 (ENE) 300 clear none 22:00 99 32 23 58 (ENE) 283 clear none 23:00 99 32 6 292 (WNW) 273 clear none 00:00 99 32 9 85 (E) 121 clear none 01:00 99 32 3 7 (N) 354 clear none 02:00 99 32 2 346 (NNW) 382 clear none 03:00 99 32 7 92 (E) 152 clear none 04:00 99 32 1 213 (SSW) 95 clear none 05:00 99 32 2 244 (WSW) 74 clear none 06:00 99 32 5 193 (SSW) 117 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
