When the focus sweep failed I tried manually moving the focus with the sec focus widget, that failed too. I let it sit for about a minute or two and then tried to move the focus value again and this time it worked! A couple minutes later it again failed with another time out. This time I noticed that the piston and tilt positions were not matching the orient and des for the sec. At this point I called Russet in to help with the problem. The secondary seemed to be moving but moving slowly. BTW, outside air temp was around -7.8C (very similiar to last night when we had the problem). We again disabled the secondary and Russet updated the PR. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NM08 K T/H 00:22 00:55 Problems with a sticky secondary tonight Timed out error on move ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:25 ecamera 514( -750) -80 74 -6.2 -4.5 -4.6 -4.7 -5.5 ND4 1.08 18:26 ecamera 448( -864) -124 55 -5.9 -5.7 -5.2 -5.8 -5.9 ND3 1.22 21:36 arctic 448( 156) 143 62 -6.9 -7.3 -6.7 -7.3 -6.9 SDSS_r 1.00 21:39 NA2gdr 6233(36233) 144 62 -6.9 -7.3 -6.6 -7.3 -6.9 Clear 1.29 00:56 kosmos 448( 74) 212 64 -7.8 -8.4 -7.8 -8.5 -7.9 -- 1.07 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 24 -6 11 346 (NNW) 518 mstly clr none 17:00 21 -1 8 37 (NE) 553 mstly clr none 18:00 21 3 13 26 (NNE) 401 ptly cldy none 19:00 20 2 15 24 (NNE) 452 ptly cldy none 20:00 20 3 11 43 (NE) 534 mstly clr none 21:00 19 3 14 34 (NE) 571 clear none 22:00 19 3 13 32 (NNE) 573 clear none 23:00 17 3 1 77 (ENE) 737 clear none 00:00 19 5 4 304 (NW) 471 clear none 01:00 18 6 11 328 (NNW) 516 clear none 02:00 17 8 11 316 (NW) 540 clear none 03:00 17 11 12 324 (NW) 493 clear none 04:00 18 12 9 335 (NNW) 542 clear none 05:00 18 10 6 359 (N) 460 clear none 06:00 18 9 14 353 (N) 423 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
