ARCTIC had a dropped quad after correcting last night's problem, but it only took three attempts to recover the quad which is fairly good by recent standards. Last night's observers were able to get belated darks and biases which will hopefully be usable for their data. We had good seeing all night, but clear skies at the start turned to increasing high clouds later on. Humidity jumped up sharply before morning twilight, so between that and the clouds we did close a little earlier than we might have in better conditions. The targets for WY03 got too low well before midnight, and the plans they had made in advance for another observer to use the time fell through. So we asked if a different WY program would be interested in using some of the time, which worked smoothly. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:33 ecamera 566( -416) 239 71 1.4 1.5 1.8 2.0 1.5 ND2 0.72 19:35 ecamera 425( -598) -4 75 0.5 0.7 1.5 0.8 0.5 Clear 0.77 23:28 tcamera 395( 621) 63 43 0.7 0.3 1.4 0.6 0.6 Ks 0.85 01:07 ecamera 340( -727) 48 69 0.1 -0.2 0.4 -0.6 0.2 ND3 0.82 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 34 -9 6 59 (ENE) 455 clear none 17:00 34 -18 6 6 (N) 243 clear none 18:00 35 -34 7 349 (N) 177 clear none 19:00 35 -31 5 358 (N) 122 clear none 20:00 35 -24 7 341 (NNW) 152 clear none 21:00 34 -14 3 347 (NNW) 207 clear none 22:00 36 -22 5 301 (WNW) 201 mstly clr none 23:00 33 -17 3 197 (SSW) 205 ptly cldy none 00:00 33 -14 2 155 (SSE) 182 ptly cldy none 01:00 34 -15 5 134 (SE) 199 ptly cldy none 02:00 32 -21 9 164 (SSE) 198 ptly cldy none 03:00 31 -13 12 155 (SSE) 201 ptly cldy none 04:00 31 -19 7 162 (SSE) 195 ptly cldy none 05:00 27 21 13 167 (SSE) 971 ptly cldy humid 06:00 28 15 15 178 (S) ptly cldy humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
