I ran out of LN2 on the Echelle while just starting to fill tonight. It started filling the main and reservoir tanks before I could fill/pressurise the nurse tank fully. I stopped my fill and let it fill the tanks. Instead of waiting I went down stairs for an hour or so and would go back up to finish the nurse tank fill. I found the echelle still trying to fill and lots of frost on things. I closed the fill valves, fully filled and pressurized the nurse tank (slightly overfilling the nurse as I assumed it would use some LN2 once I re-opened the valves). With the correct pressure in the nurse tank the echelle filled in about 3-4 mins and I confirmed both auto-fill valves turned off. Even though the pressure guage on the nurse tank read 3psi, my guess is it was lower than that and not enough to fill the echelle and trip the auto-fill valves to close. I don't believe anything warmed up, but I probably did burn off a little LN2 in the echelle with the valves remaining open. The s cale dropped about 15-20 lbs, probably from bleed off, in the hour and a half before I did the full nurse tank fill. The Echelle appeared to be using the normal amount of LN2 when I did the end of night fills. I called it a night at 05:20 with high humidty, lt. rain, and clouds. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 45 43 2 263 (W) cloudy humid 17:00 45 43 2 302 (WNW) cloudy humid 18:00 44 41 0 321 (NW) cloudy humid 19:00 42 40 8 88 (E) cloudy humid 20:00 42 40 13 113 (ESE) cloudy humid 21:00 41 39 14 78 (ENE) cloudy humid 22:00 41 39 17 72 (ENE) cloudy humid 23:00 41 39 11 92 (E) cloudy humid 00:00 41 39 11 111 (ESE) cloudy humid 01:00 41 39 5 104 (ESE) cloudy humid 02:00 41 39 15 124 (SE) cloudy humid 03:00 41 41 6 152 (SSE) cloudy humid 04:00 41 40 11 146 (SE) cloudy lt rain 05:00 41 40 10 160 (SSE) cloudy lt rain Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
