We used 2x2 binning instead. JH01 finished a little early and donated the rest of their time to NM11. When I closed the mirror covers for NM11 at 04:45, I slewed to 114,80 and put the stop button in. The telescope slipped to 80.3 alt. After swapping instruments from KOSMOS to TSPEC and opening back up, I immediately got a motion error with a slew to 114,80, and repeatedly at 80alt when I tried slewing downwards a few times after reinitializing the drives. I was able to get the telescope to move up a few degrees and then it successfully slewed down to 75 alt, but when I made another slew to 114,30, the telescope slewed pasts 30 to about 27 before coming back up to 30. I did a few more small slews that didn't behave oddly before we began TSPEC observations. We had a clear night with only a few wispy clouds at the very end. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:03 khigh 310( 598) 19 37 2.5 5.8 5.1 5.6 3.3 -- 1.90 01:11 kosmos 364( 560) 270 44 4.9 3.9 4.6 3.8 4.2 -- 1.28 05:38 tcamera 464( 760) -56 49 2.8 1.9 3.5 2.7 3.2 Ks 1.03 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 41 25 6 296 (WNW) 631 clear none 17:00 41 22 9 290 (WNW) 519 clear none 18:00 38 21 2 352 (N) 593 clear none 19:00 37 19 6 12 (NNE) 622 clear none 20:00 40 1 10 357 (N) 181 clear none 21:00 40 -4 4 343 (NNW) 137 clear none 22:00 40 9 10 360 (N) 234 clear none 23:00 40 14 5 7 (N) 388 clear none 00:00 40 13 2 32 (NNE) 273 clear none 01:00 39 14 7 1 (N) 299 clear none 02:00 41 17 10 330 (NNW) 284 clear none 03:00 41 20 12 321 (NW) 359 clear none 04:00 40 22 3 322 (NW) 487 clear none 05:00 38 24 4 339 (NNW) 612 clear none 06:00 38 23 4 337 (NNW) 641 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
