Recovered the dropped quad during checkout. When I closed the mirror covers for KOSMOS cals, with the stop button in and the brake engaged, the telescope moved on it's own to 89.7 alt. After moving it back, we had alt motion errors on every >5deg downward slew, as well as slipping in altitude after the brake engaged. Troubleshooting lasted for most of A-half, though much of this time would have been lost to weather, primarily due to nearby radar. The rest of the time lost is allotted to equip. Thank you for your help to both Bill and Russet! We did not solve the problem but we implemented some workarounds that should get us through the weekend (lowered alt motion parameters, short alt slews, and parking high). See PR2105. While CU01 was taking dome flats, they commanded diffuser off, out, and filter change at the same time. This resulted in the error: arctic f text="Sub-command(s) failed: move 4: Failed to stop at filter sensor" and an unhomed filter wheel error. Homing the filter wheel fixed this. There was no obvious evidence of water droplets on the flats, but I didn’t visually inspect the optics. We stayed closed a little longer than we strictly needed to, to keep the telescope a little warmer before the CU01 exoplanet transit window with the high humidity. We opened at 02:30 with fans in reverse configuration due to humidity. In order to slew to the field with our motion error problems, I got the coordinates from the observer and looked at the alt (64) before slewing down from alt 80 to 60 in 5 deg increments. That way the slew to the field would be upwards and not a very long alt slew. The only motion error I got was at 80 when I did slew in place to wake up the drives and set inst. We had to close again at 03:45 due to high humidity, followed by fog. We didn't open again. Added a note to the wiki about "BadStatusMask" not actually being a warning message. The telescope is parked at alt 80 for both rain and potential runaway reasons. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OU03 KOSMOS T/H 21:13 22:15 Altitude motion error troubleshooting ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:47 arctic 545( 1074) -61 61 9.4 10.2 12.0 9.9 9.3 SDSS_i 1.09 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 59 43 11 185 (S) 732 mstly cldy none 17:00 57 42 9 201 (SSW) 712 mstly cldy none 18:00 57 42 10 210 (SSW) 727 mstly cldy none 19:00 54 42 9 180 (S) 847 mstly cldy none 20:00 54 42 11 171 (S) 842 mstly clr none 21:00 51 45 20 156 (SSE) 907 mstly clr none 22:00 51 41 20 178 (S) 600 mstly clr none 23:00 49 42 17 161 (SSE) 662 mstly clr none 00:00 49 43 17 174 (S) 469 mstly clr none 01:00 48 43 16 162 (SSE) mstly clr humid 02:00 49 44 13 176 (S) mstly clr humid 03:00 49 44 13 145 (SE) mstly clr humid 04:00 47 45 14 138 (SE) mstly cldy fog 05:00 46 46 14 154 (SSE) mstly cldy fog 06:00 48 46 8 180 (S) ptly cldy humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
