KOSMOS did not start in the checkout script. It appeared to hang while turning off the cal lamps, which I saw when I aborted the script. I was not able to manually turn on/off any of the Kosmos lamps. All other KOSOMS controls (stage, disperser, slit) all seemed to operate correctly. I had Bill investigate as he was able to control them earlier today. He discovered that the issue was a password they changed earlier today and fixed it. - Reset drive controller for Az, NA2, and Agile. - Hub and TCC reset. - zero'ed NA2 rotator -0.068 - checked for initial start hum that Russet reported a few weeks ago. I did not hear anything. - up/down sweeps in alt to look for odd behaviour on the dataq. I only saw some small wiggles on the - alt error/current when the velocity would transition from flat line to acceleratinon/deceleration once the telescope was moving. They died pretty quickly - sky tracking (dome closed) tests at S,W,N,E at altitude 75, 55, 20 and SSW at 20 altitude, look for oscillations in current error and current charts. Since we could not open due to humidity, I did some KOSMOS internal cal and flat lamp exposure tests. We could probably have been on sky the first 3 hours of the night before the humidity went over the limit. We were doing in dome tracking tests during this time. We would not have been able to do S-H until the telescope would have been cooled down, and with the humidity going up that probably wasn't possible. I reported 3 hours of OBS time since we could have been open but I opted not to open until I finished the closed dome tracking tests. The humidity hit the closure limits right after I finished the tracking tests. Remaining engineering tasks - TUI 3 on M1 machine testing (checkout script was not working for me) - Shack-Hartmann - Pointing model - Throughput, if photometric - Training (ARCSAT-Shelyak system restart) ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 47 41 10 231 (SW) 281 mstly cldy none 17:00 49 41 11 224 (SW) 282 mstly cldy none 18:00 47 41 10 243 (WSW) 309 mstly cldy none 19:00 44 41 2 252 (WSW) ptly cldy humid 20:00 45 36 5 206 (SSW) mstly clr none 21:00 44 38 7 200 (SSW) 275 clear none 22:00 43 39 8 215 (SW) clear humid 23:00 43 41 8 192 (SSW) clear humid 00:00 43 41 9 209 (SSW) clear humid 01:00 43 42 8 220 (SW) cloudy humid 02:00 43 42 10 218 (SW) cloudy humid 03:00 42 41 5 201 (SSW) ptly cldy humid 04:00 42 41 8 261 (W) ptly cldy humid 05:00 42 41 12 262 (W) ptly cldy humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
