I needed to restart the ICC and then the Nubs to get the instrument working again. About 6 mins lost to get the instrument working again. It had worked fine at checkout. We may have had some KOSMOS shutter issues tonight. I saw one curved thing in the slitview image, a shutter blade? Also a few of the images when doing science exposures the slitviewer image was basically dark, but for others we could see the star and slit on the same field. Outside temp was -1.6C, dome -2.3C I tried out the new KOSMOS focus script. Found a couple gotcha's, like the image being rotated 90 deg so an X offset now is along the slit. Simple work-a-round was to just set the X offset to 0 and manyally move boresight (-5.0 in Y) with the offset widget. That seemed to do the trick and setting the focus range to something like 300 or 400 to give a wide sweep. The observers said the resulting spectra looked in focus. Thicker clouds moved in during the later part of the night. They observed bright target through them with KOSMOS. I got a Alt motion error at 04:50. Alt was 67.5 deg slewing to 70 deg. When I went upstairs the alt brake was hissing air. I had to go back downstairs, release the stop button, then axis init it from the dome, which stopped the air leak. I was able to slew afterwards. Due to the clouds, APOLLO would not be able to range the moon. They gave their time to the DD01 program. DD01 was not able to use the twilight due to the clouds and gave up at 05:55. I reverted the AP01 as lost to weather for that program. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:44 ecamera 392( -614) 329 54 -3.8 -3.4 -2.8 -3.8 -3.6 clear 0.86 21:25 NICFPS 384( 830) -17 75 -3.3 -4.2 -3.5 -4.2 -3.9 H2-2.12 1.27 00:34 dcamera 464( 300) 124 67 -3.0 -4.1 -3.4 -4.0 -3.8 -- 1.25 02:06 dcamera 575( 410) 168 80 -1.9 -4.0 -3.5 -3.8 -3.5 -- 1.11 03:59 kosmos 485( 603) 235 68 -1.6 -1.7 -2.4 -2.1 -2.1 -- 1.10 05:20 arctic 431( 605) 49 53 -2.2 -1.7 -2.2 -2.5 -2.3 SDSS_r 1.35 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 25 10 16 324 (NW) 615 mstly clr none 17:00 25 12 11 304 (NW) 766 mstly clr none 18:00 25 11 10 3 (N) 321 mstly clr none 19:00 26 11 11 343 (NNW) 304 mstly clr none 20:00 26 11 12 340 (NNW) 275 mstly clr none 21:00 26 11 6 294 (WNW) 289 mstly clr none 22:00 26 8 7 289 (WNW) 407 mstly clr none 23:00 27 5 19 335 (NNW) 325 mstly clr none 00:00 27 7 13 307 (NW) 436 mstly clr none 01:00 26 8 10 316 (NW) 485 mstly clr none 02:00 28 4 10 273 (W) 340 mstly clr none 03:00 29 0 19 302 (WNW) 505 ptly cldy none 04:00 29 3 5 301 (WNW) 567 ptly cldy none 05:00 29 5 18 315 (NW) 585 mstly cldy none 06:00 29 8 16 317 (NW) 546 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
