During that time we tested the telemetry of the drives and, while azimuth looked good between the range of 1.25 - 2.0 deg/sec velocity, the altitude drive started getting motion errors at a velocity of 1.85 deg/sec. I set both drives back to 1.25 deg/sec. When the wind calmed down enough to open around 2am, we tried to test the kcam slit viewer. However, the field would come and go before finally appearing to be stuck in a somewhat obscured mode. Since it was -5 C in the dome, we think it was the shutter. A PR was sent (PR 2070) and images are attacked to the engineering email. I dismounted KOSMOS and tried to see if I could see the slit but I was not able to see anything moving inside the lens. We then attempted to check dcam focus with the spectrograph focus. After adjusting the focus everything was worse and we just went back to the way it was, so no change. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03:42 dcamera 538( 330) 184 48 -4.8 -5.2 -4.7 -5.2 -5.0 -- 1.42 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 26 24 2 93 (E) 778 mstly clr none 17:00 24 21 7 3 (N) 894 mstly clr none 18:00 24 18 7 357 (N) 364 mstly clr none 19:00 24 15 14 11 (N) mstly clr none 20:00 24 16 21 23 (NNE) 477 clear none 21:00 24 18 8 43 (NE) clear none 22:00 25 18 11 30 (NNE) clear none 23:00 24 18 9 347 (NNW) clear none 00:00 24 18 10 360 (N) clear none 01:00 23 19 8 358 (N) clear humid 02:00 23 18 8 357 (N) clear none 03:00 22 20 12 19 (NNE) clear none 04:00 25 2 5 343 (NNW) 228 clear none 05:00 25 7 9 348 (NNW) 189 clear none 06:00 24 15 10 342 (NNW) 326 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
