The sky was amazing for the Golden Child (AKA John Bally) with clear skies as subarcsec seeing. During the last set of CU03 NICFPS exposures, NICFPS stopped reading out in the middle of the set at 23:41 with the readout bar hung at 0 sec left. I tried stopping the sequence and was given the error: "2021-09-28 05:42:30 APO.Candace.nicfpsExpose 364 nicfps f UNPARSEDTEXT="\"Could NOT stop the exposure!\"" I tried a Nicfps Expose init and got the following error: 2021-09-28 05:42:54 APO.Candace 232 nicfpsExpose f exposeTxt="cannot start a new nicfps exposure while another is active" Restarting the Nubs and then following with an init solved the issue, but it's unclear to me what happened in the first place. We did not lose much time but, when attempting the switch to the echelle, the clouds were getting too thick and there were radar pings, so I closed. The rain started around 2 am and was off and on the rest of the night. By 4:30 it was clear that we would not be able to open by 5am (the minimum time needed for NM05 to start their program) and I called it. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CU03 N I/U 23:41 23:45 NICFPS stopped reading out ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:28 tcamera 529( 1490) 224 35 8.9 11.5 11.6 11.4 9.6 Ks 1.25 20:17 NICFPS 403( 1550) 337 33 9.0 10.1 10.4 9.6 9.1 H2-2.12 0.62 22:07 NICFPS 499( 1588) 309 23 9.0 8.7 9.3 8.7 8.8 FeII-1.64 1.01 21:51 NICFPS 450( 1490) 229 69 8.8 8.4 9.0 8.4 8.5 FeII-1.64 0.71 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 51 44 7 199 (SSW) 770 cloudy lt rain 17:00 50 42 10 233 (SW) 862 cloudy lt rain 18:00 50 42 7 259 (W) 906 cloudy lt rain 19:00 48 39 9 265 (W) 955 ptly cldy none 20:00 48 35 9 263 (W) 706 clear none 21:00 49 33 14 265 (W) 620 clear none 22:00 49 34 15 265 (W) 606 clear none 23:00 48 36 14 273 (W) 713 mstly clr none 00:00 47 37 11 267 (W) 769 mstly cldy none 01:00 47 37 11 268 (W) 528 cloudy lt rain 02:00 46 38 12 271 (W) 502 cloudy lt rain 03:00 45 41 14 246 (WSW) cloudy lt rain 04:00 45 40 16 247 (WSW) cloudy lt rain Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
