The basin is hazy--maybe smoke, but our dust counts were not dangerously high tonight. We had a minor power glitch around 21:30; the lights in the ops building flickered and the 3.5m telescope stopped tracking. We were still on utility power and neither the 2.5m or ARCSAT had any problems. We were able to recover quickly, and a re-inspection on the intermediate level showed nothing amiss there. At the changeover I noticed the PMSS strip charts were not updating and restarted the Dataq to fix that. At the end of the night, the mirror covers required a manual override to close. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:10 arctic 423( 1528) 73 37 16.0 17.7 17.9 16.9 16.4 SDSS_r 1.23 01:25 ecamera 382( 257) -128 45 16.1 15.1 15.8 15.1 15.2 ND2 0.73 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 70 40 7 245 (WSW) 2356 clear none 17:00 69 37 8 246 (WSW) 2499 clear none 18:00 69 38 8 251 (WSW) 2363 clear none 19:00 64 38 4 169 (S) 2526 clear none 20:00 61 34 6 133 (SE) 2519 clear none 21:00 61 31 1 128 (SE) 2431 clear none 22:00 63 34 5 302 (WNW) 2487 clear none 23:00 61 33 7 217 (SW) 2343 clear none 00:00 60 33 5 191 (S) 2297 clear none 01:00 61 35 3 173 (S) 2399 clear none 02:00 61 36 2 215 (SW) 2664 clear none 03:00 61 36 3 217 (SW) 2510 clear none 04:00 60 35 4 221 (SW) 2116 clear none 05:00 59 32 3 227 (SW) 2058 clear none 06:00 60 32 6 231 (SW) 2024 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
