We opened at 22:30 at 23:08 I started a 100 point model. Clouds started moving in around 23:30 causing a few failed stars. The clouds grew progressively worse and by 00:30 we were pretty much cloud covered and I halted the model. Out of 55 stars observed about 20 were either bad or skipped. I closed the mirror covers at 00:30, but left the dome open. I re-opened at 01:50 for another attempt at a pointing model. 100 point pointing model complete. Implemented and checked NA2 and NA1 pointing. I got a motion error that halted the Alt drive, when spot checking the echelle. Az 44.8, Alt 43.5 Restarted the alt axis to clear the issue. I adjusted pointing on the echelle to improve star position. I think they were falling close to where we set it the other night, I further refined it so the star is now close to the slit/boresight. Russet logged in and we adjusted pointing for TR2 to finish out the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:05 guider 718( 1463) 99 46 16.2 16.6 17.0 16.5 16.5 R 1.05 01:57 guider 741( 1429) 216 42 15.6 15.4 15.9 15.3 15.4 R 1.20 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 61 49 11 116 (ESE) 2581 cloudy none 17:00 66 49 2 184 (S) 2428 cloudy none 18:00 64 48 8 186 (S) 2298 cloudy lt rain 19:00 63 48 7 183 (S) 2208 ptly cldy none 20:00 62 47 7 137 (SE) 2144 cloudy none 21:00 63 44 8 143 (SE) 2209 mstly cldy none 22:00 63 44 11 137 (SE) 2191 ptly cldy none 23:00 62 43 11 143 (SE) 2098 ptly cldy none 00:00 61 44 12 127 (SE) 2159 cloudy none 01:00 61 44 11 128 (SE) 2183 cloudy none 02:00 60 42 13 130 (SE) 2567 ptly cldy none 03:00 60 42 11 181 (S) 2585 mstly clr none 04:00 59 42 11 173 (S) 2559 mstly clr none 05:00 59 42 14 154 (SSE) 2983 mstly clr none 06:00 58 43 10 181 (S) 2997 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
