We opened up at 22:15 and attempted to get time on-sky for UW13, but aside from having a spot in the clouds just clear enough to focus in, we didn't see much of anything and didn't even bother exposing. We finally started taking data at 23:30, but then had to close up at 00:00 as rain showers suddenly appeared nearby; it started to rain at 00:30. With no prospect of opening for the rest of their time, UW13 gave up at 00:45. The rain didn't last long, but around 01:30, the dust counts spiked. Given the time of year I suspected it was pollen, although the car windshields didn't look as dirty as I would have expected. Nonetheless, with "dust" above the limits and the humidity over 60%, I did not risk opening. The counts finally dropped enough that I opened up at 02:45, and we stayed open the rest of B half. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:31 dcamera 399( 1081) 18 77 18.0 19.5 19.8 19.3 18.4 -- 2.07 02:52 ecamera 563( 209) 42 35 15.2 16.5 17.6 16.3 15.6 ND2 2.26 03:49 ecamera 378( -20) 25 41 14.8 15.7 16.4 15.3 15.1 ND3 1.14 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 74 36 10 275 (W) 1624 ptly cldy none 17:00 73 35 16 231 (SW) 1718 mstly cldy lt rain 18:00 63 30 5 7 (N) 1882 mstly cldy lt rain 19:00 70 36 8 236 (SW) 1538 mstly cldy rain 20:00 65 32 7 266 (W) 2940 mstly cldy none 21:00 66 33 13 264 (W) 1652 mstly cldy none 22:00 65 32 12 266 (W) 1625 mstly cldy none 23:00 64 32 11 268 (W) 1448 ptly cldy none 00:00 64 32 11 265 (W) 1336 cloudy rain 01:00 63 32 9 247 (WSW) 2795 mstly cldy dust 02:00 59 31 8 186 (S) 7207 ptly cldy dust 03:00 59 30 7 249 (WSW) 4619 clear dust 04:00 58 28 5 260 (W) 3752 clear dust 05:00 59 32 5 299 (WNW) 2763 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
