Seeing and cloud conditions were not good enough for APOLLO to range to the moon. At about midnight, the clouds cleared up a little bit and with no nearby threat of rain we opened the dome--only for the dust to spike, so we closed back up immediately. We think it was pollen, from shaking the trees. The dust counts stayed too high for the rest of the night. Engineering: - Reset all four drive controllers - Restarted TCC and hub - Had issues with tertiary position after this - Zeroed NA2 and Agile rotators - New DIS slitviewer masks - New echelle slitviewer mask - Tracking oscillation tests with the dome closed due to high dust counts ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ----------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 76 37 14 201 (SSW) 3352 mstly clr none 17:00 74 35 6 232 (SW) 2718 ptly cldy none 18:00 70 34 8 83 (E) 2118 mstly cldy none 19:00 67 34 2 130 (SE) 2311 cloudy none 20:00 65 30 13 134 (SE) 2079 cloudy none 21:00 64 28 16 153 (SSE) 1755 mstly cldy none 22:00 65 28 15 138 (SE) 1747 mstly cldy none 23:00 65 29 10 164 (SSE) 1967 mstly cldy none 00:00 62 28 15 185 (S) 21005 ptly cldy dust 01:00 62 27 5 207 (SSW) 13375 mstly clr dust 02:00 63 32 7 227 (SW) 14539 mstly clr dust 03:00 64 32 8 234 (SW) 18008 clear dust 04:00 65 31 7 232 (SW) 7587 clear dust 05:00 64 31 7 259 (W) 3952 clear dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed. The convention used is north=0 degrees, east=90 degrees. The dust count is particles > 1u per 0.1 cubic feet. ---------- TELESCOPE SOFTWARE ---------- Current TCC version: 1.4.2 Current HUB version: v20171231_01 Current TUI version: 2.6.0
