But I was stupid and, after showing the new trainees the arctic filter wheel this afternoon, I tried to move the wheel without first homing it. This results in the filter wheel being "stuck" and reporting that it couldn't move because it was moving. I had to restart the filter wheel controller before it would finally home. We had thunderstorms in the afternoon and rain and clouds the rest of the night. There was no hope of opening. ------------------- Since we haven't had a song in awhile, and we have a great deal to celebrate after today's NASA announcement, here's a little poem: Round about the planet go; All the poison’d gases flow. Sigh, that Venus be shun, Wait of years has thirty-one Sheltered teams are sleeping not, Who'll be first i' the launch spot? Double, double toil and trouble; Rockets burn, and PIs bubble. Ballet of the aerobreak, Into Venus boil and bake; Eye of let now don't you clog, Don't you stain this mission log, Goddard sphere from spacecraft fling, Release probe and please God ping, Say a prayer to powerful Hubble, Into hell-broth boil and bubble Double, double toil and trouble; Rockets burn, and PIs bubble. Scores of flagons, sounds of "oof", NASA leaders wade the gulf, Of the ravin'd people's mark, Source of phosphine did make this spark, "Leaving one waiting in queue", "Forget that, and lets send two!" Studied by the craft's ellipse, Learn the land in scanning strips, Visited there not since we're babe Air deliver'd by a grab Things we can't do in lab Add thereto a PI Garvin For the ingredients of our mission. Double, double toil and trouble; Rockets burn, and science doubles! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 65 32 7 295 (WNW) mstly cldy none 17:00 63 30 8 253 (WSW) mstly cldy lt rain 18:00 56 30 10 293 (WNW) cloudy rain 19:00 47 32 11 25 (NNE) cloudy rain 20:00 48 32 13 46 (NE) cloudy lt rain 21:00 50 32 19 70 (ENE) cloudy none 22:00 55 30 14 341 (NNW) cloudy none 23:00 52 30 4 326 (NW) cloudy none 00:00 52 31 2 254 (WSW) cloudy lt rain 01:00 51 31 1 163 (SSE) cloudy none 02:00 52 31 7 188 (S) cloudy none 03:00 51 32 7 226 (SW) cloudy lt rain 04:00 51 31 1 232 (SW) cloudy lt rain Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
