We homed the gratings turret and reset to the low-resolution gratings, but this time the tilts suggested that the zerostep was off by +30 in the blue and -30 in the red. We tried re-homing and checking tilts a few more times with same exact results, we checked by eye that the detent pin was setting and made sure the turret was actually moving (it was). Despite moving things around the recommended zerostep changes remained constant (at +/- 30). So we changed the zerosteps on the DIS ICC; red from 313 to 283 and blue from 272 to 300. The detent steps started around 1170 on low-res gratings, but after we moved things it went back to about 700--the high-res gratings were at about 1000 each time. The start of the night was very cloudy due to thunderstorms to the southeast (with no threat of precipitation here). We were able to open about an hour after sunset. The ARCSAT Extras script was stuck, weather and webcam were not updating properly. Restarting ARCSAT Extras script fixed the problem. MaxIm froze and everything had to be restarted around 03:30. Closed the dome at 01:56 due to radar returns, reopened at 02:53. Scattered clouds coming through made observing a little frustrating but not impossible. No motion errors tonight! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:31 dcamera 431( 1134) 98 65 19.3 19.9 20.3 19.8 19.2 -- 1.64 01:11 ecamera 450( 217) 99 60 19.7 19.5 20.0 19.3 19.7 Clear 1.30 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 66 33 26 137 (SE) 1464 cloudy none 17:00 70 34 6 186 (S) 1343 cloudy none 18:00 67 37 11 115 (ESE) 1360 cloudy none 19:00 67 34 12 129 (SE) 1025 cloudy none 20:00 67 33 19 133 (SE) 852 cloudy none 21:00 67 32 22 126 (SE) 813 mstly cldy none 22:00 67 32 18 139 (SE) 1040 mstly cldy none 23:00 69 31 12 182 (S) 1139 ptly cldy none 00:00 69 30 11 160 (SSE) 1303 mstly clr none 01:00 69 28 8 177 (S) 1097 mstly clr none 02:00 63 32 18 87 (E) 1409 ptly cldy none 03:00 61 34 12 92 (E) 1214 mstly cldy none 04:00 66 31 6 207 (SSW) 1396 ptly cldy none 05:00 64 31 7 175 (S) 1610 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
